Full Tilt Boogie

2010

2010-05-17 - 3 yrs. ago, Full Tilt Boogie crashed, and even with over 25 years of experience driving a wheelstander... somehow the required equation of speed, balance, and traction did not align. We decided during the repair certain changes could improve the act, eg... a fire show... I consulted a wheelstanding legend driver who includes in his act the best fire show ...THE TEXAS BANDIT...TONY CAPRIO. Tony set us straight with all kinds of professional support which included designing our fire show. Another major weakness was engine performance, starting with a magneto style of spark. We ended up installing a bullet proof style of mag, thanks to Darrell Web of Lucas Oil sponsored alcohol funny car out of Edmonton. Next we needed to improve our fuel system, because a tuned fuel system spells performance. We improved fuel flow and spark, so now to transfer that power to the wheels we replaced the tranny. Assurance of power transfer, required us to replace both the transmission and torque converter. We were unaware from the crash... the rear end housing was pushed out of alignment approx. 1/8th of an inch. This was not picked up by anyone involved professionally I found, as the truck was set into flight, it wanted to veer left, requiring an equal and opposite offset with steering brake. Experience lead me to know there still was something wrong. A realigned rear end assembly along with a new rear end set of gears, was the final touch to regain normal flight. So with a new motor, rear end, new sterling brakes, torque converter, transmission and everything aligned, we will now be setting record passes every time she flies. So to sum up...all this has taught us an even greater respect for Virgil Sellers, who built and maintained the truck for us regularly. When he was taken from this life, we were just a small part of who he was and just how without question he enjoyed helping people. We will always salute him and respect his life as a father ,a friend, and a mentor. We miss him dearly, and Virgil we thank you for our flying hot rod. Without you at our side we learned to find our own way, which has opened new personal friendships. All growth takes a measure of time. I have now revealed part of the story... where we have become stronger through experience. We believe that we become better people when we work together, giving and gaining respect through friendship. I am passionate about drag racing. Our family strives to perform professionally and offering a show meant to be...safe, fun family entertainment. Life is a journey, and I for one hope to continue to learn how to be a better husband, father, and friend. I enjoy being taught, as I enjoy sharing it....TO THOSE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH OUR SHOW WE OFFER OUR BEST TO DISPLAY THAT PROFESSIONAL WHEELSTANDING EQUATION OF ... SPEED, TRACTION, BALANCE and SKILL.

2010-05-10 - new e-mail to post selectspaandbath@gmail.com, new phone number is  403-758-3380. A new sponsorship is presently in the makings... stay tuned for an update next week. Special thanks to Ron & Elaine Sellers, as well Shawn and the gang at Ron's Hot Rod & Custom, Spokane, Washington for all their support.

WATCH FOR THIS... There's a new licensed wheelstander in Canada, under the name of Nitro Mike, his ride is a gorgeous fire blowin PT cruizer... we at Full Tilt Boogie wish them well. Keep it up Mike, looks like your really puttin' on a show, and that's what it's all about, right. For me... I'm a fan of the sport, wouldn't it be great if... all of the wheelstanders could put together a wknd. extravaganza together just like the old days. No politics, just friends makin' more friends, and havin' a ball doin' it.

2010-04-25 - Updated the contact phone number and will update the schedule for 2010 once I get in contact with Kerry!

2009-01-25 - A new year and a new beginning - let's have some fun!

Another year has past. This year was a very memorable one, as we lost a friend, father, husband, and a great member of the drag racing community... we lost Virgil Sellers. I for one was blessed by his kindness and generosity. I got to know him as a friend and a mentor, Virgil taught me how to drive a wheelstander. When I came to him for his professional opinion whether to purchase someone else's wheelstander, he suggested the design was wrong for a wheelstander and could be fatal at higher speeds. His suggestion led me to owning the Full Tilt Boogie, he built it, and made sure I was going to be safe, in one he built. His knowledge was given freely to those who were in need. His way was to teach you how to help yourself, and do it properly. His family went far beyond blood, he was a great member of the community as well a good businessman. His help went out to his customers, he was fair minded, and had a great sense of humor. I was blessed to know him and I for one have had the honor of his sharing himself and his knowledge. Thanks Virgil. God watch over him.
With Respect
Kerry Watson
